The conversion may account for much of the value
IH Motorhomes is a British specialist known for well-finished panel-van conversions. A registration lookup may describe the Fiat or other base van but omit the IH interior, windows and equipment. Check that the completed motorhome appears on the quote.
Use the build record
Find the model name, layout and original specification. Some vehicles were individually ordered, so another IH of the same age may not contain the same equipment. Keep the invoice and photographs, especially where the online database has only a general model entry.
Choose a defensible value
Compare complete IH conversions with the same van length, age, mileage and condition. A commercial-van valuation is too narrow. Ask how a total loss would be settled and what evidence is needed if agreed value is available.
List later alterations
Solar panels, lithium batteries, an awning, tow bar, cycle rack, suspension changes or engine tuning may have been added. Give the current number of belted seats and explain any changes to restraints or furniture.
Use and travel
Declare commuting or business driving if the IH is used between holidays. For European trips, check the permitted countries and single-trip limit. Breakdown assistance may impose an age or weight restriction of its own.
Read the detail
Compare the treatment of fixed equipment, possessions, glass and theft. If security or storage is a policy condition, make sure it describes what you actually use.
