The model name makes a real difference

An Adria Twin is a panel-van conversion. A Matrix or Coral is coachbuilt, while a Sonic has an integrated cab. They may all carry the Adria name, but they are not the same sort of vehicle. When asking for quotes, give the complete model designation rather than entering “Adria motorhome” and leaving the insurer to make assumptions.

The registration number will often bring up the base vehicle, which may be a Fiat Ducato or Citroën Relay. Check that the completed Adria model is recorded as well. This matters most when an automated form identifies the van but misses the habitation body and its value.

Use a value that reflects your particular Adria

Factory packs and dealer-fitted equipment can produce a sizeable difference between two otherwise similar Adrias. An awning, solar installation, satellite system, upgraded heating or automatic gearbox may already be reflected in the price you paid. Later additions may need listing separately. Answer the questions as they are asked and mention anything that has changed since the vehicle left the factory.

For an older Adria, look at current asking prices for the same model, age and condition. Do not use the value of the underlying Fiat or Citroën van. If the policy offers agreed value or new-for-old cover, read the conditions rather than assuming the name describes the settlement you would receive.

Check the weight plate and driving licence

Some Adria models are plated at 3,500kg; others are heavier, and optional equipment can affect the available payload. The maximum authorised mass is shown on the vehicle plate. It is this figure—not the weight on a holiday weighbridge ticket—that helps determine the licence category needed. Anyone driving a heavier model should check their own entitlement before being added to the policy.

If you tour abroad

Many Adria owners buy the vehicle for longer continental trips. Look at the permitted countries, the maximum length of one trip and the total foreign-use allowance. Then check breakdown cover separately. A recovery scheme can have its own limits on length, height and weight even when the motor policy covers the journey.

Keep the model, plated weight, current value, annual mileage, storage address and security details beside you when comparing quotes. That will produce a more meaningful comparison than repeatedly changing answers until a cheaper figure appears.
