Knaus builds more than one kind of touring vehicle
BoxLife and BoxStar names are associated with campervans, while Van TI, Live and Sky ranges include coachbuilt motorhomes. Knaus also makes caravans, so check that the quotation has found the registered motor vehicle and the correct derivative.
The chassis can vary
Fiat, Ford and MAN bases appear across the wider range. Use the registration, full model code and build documents. If an imported derivative is missing from the database, give the VIN and certificate of conformity rather than selecting a similar UK model.
Do not assume a compact Knaus weighs 3,500kg
Read the actual plate. Some models sit within category B entitlement while others are heavier. An uprated vehicle needs the current documents. Breakdown cover should also be checked against its full weight and dimensions.
Compare the same body and specification
A panel van and coachbuilt Knaus of the same age are poor valuation comparisons. Use the same derivative where possible. Include important factory packs and declare later solar panels, batteries, awnings, tow equipment or suspension changes.
Integrated models need a glass check
Where the Knaus has an integrated front, read the windscreen payment limit and excess. Habitation windows and rooflights may fall under a separate section.
European travel
Confirm countries, trip length and recovery arrangements. Give the genuine storage location at home and follow any tracker or alarm condition.
